Mariners are advised that on or around the 2nd June 2025 Tideway contractors will begin works to remove the old outfall flap valve and repair the river wall, remove the temporary scour protection in front of the old outfall, restore the river bed and complete permanent scour protection around the Heathwall Pumping Station site. Works are expected to continue for two months.

Works will involve the use of the TTT465 spudded barge with a long reach excavator and crawler crane, a muckaway and a supply barge. Safety boat GUARD DOG will be in attendance and maintain a listening watch on VHF channel 14.  

At times personnel will be working on the foreshore and from scaffolding as well as carrying out bed levelling/dredging and lifting works.  

Any requirements to proceed with caution or at slow speed, will be made in accordance with the procedures set out in the Port of London Authority’s Port Information Guide, under ‘London VTS’, ‘Section 4’ with the International Code Flags ‘Romeo Yankee’ displayed, which are illustrated below.

The display of these signals will be in addition to any lights or shapes required under local regulations and the International Regulations for Preventing Collisions at Sea.

All vessels are requested to be mindful of the nature of the works and to pass at slow speed when requested.
