Mariners are advised that, on or about Monday 21st July 2025, contractors instructed by the operators of Erith Oil Works / Albion Jetty will commence erecting scaffolding around and underneath the jetty structure.  The general location of the operations is indicated by the red box on the chartlet below: 

During the scaffolding works, a pontoon and workboat will be on site; additional small craft may be in attendance. These works will involve lifting operations and personnel working on the waterline.  

Once installed, the scaffolding is expected to be remain in place on the jetty for up to 16 weeks. Scaffolding overhanging the river is required to be marked with yellow & black coloured tape and lit with white lights by night.   

Any requirements to proceed with caution or at slow speed, will be made in accordance with the procedures set out in the Port of London Authority’s Port Information Guide, under ‘London VTS’, ‘Section 4’ with the International Code Flags ‘Romeo Yankee’ displayed, which are illustrated below.

The display of these signals will be in addition to any lights or shapes required under local regulations and the International Regulations for Preventing Collisions at Sea.
